Why Ronan the Accuser was Chosen as GOTG's Main Villain

To explain why Marvel Studios chose Ronan the Accuser as the main villain in Guardians of the Galaxy, all the answers you need to know are right here.

As Marvel announced Guardians of the Galaxy as the MCU Phase 2's fourth film, the villain that was chosen was the Kree named Ronan the Accuser. To make Ronan function as the primary antagonist in the film Marvel purposely made the character act completely off the comic books not just by making him shorter than his comic book version but simply by making him act like a classic cartoon villain on wanting to destroy the Sky Planet Xandar and made him speak like the DC villain Victor Zsasz when attempting to kill everyone on the planet as well as renegading against his species over his desire to follow his family's traditions.

But the real reason for choosing the Kree with the war hammer is because of the Infinity Stone that he was after that was shown to kill people who touch it with its unlimited power that Kevin Feige and Marvel wanted a villain that can use the stone's power by hand and seeing how Ronan was able to use the stone's power by equipping it to his hammer which magnefies its power, that would reveal specifically why they chose Ronan as the villain for Guardians of the Galaxy.
